Masoor Dal Pulao (Dal Chawal)
Ingredients
Masoor dal, with skin (मसूर दाल साबुत) – 1 cup
Basmati rice (बासमती चावल) – 1½ cups
Onion, large (प्याज़) – 1 no
Tomato, large (टमाटर) – 2 nos
Garlic cloves (लहसुन) – 5-6 nos
Ginger (अदरक) – a tiny piece
Oil (तेल) – 4-5 tbsp
Bayleaf (तेज पत्ता) – 2 nos
Peppercorn (काली मिर्च) – 12-15 nos
Cloves (लौंग) – 5-6 nos
Cumin (जीरा) – 2 tsp
Green chilli, slit (हरि मिर्च) – 2-3 nos
Turmeric (हल्दी) – ½ tsp
Chilli powder (मिर्ची पाउडर) – 2 tsp
Coriander powder (धनिया पाउडर) – 1 tbsp
Kitchen king masala (किचन किंग मसाला) – 2 tbsp
Salt (नमक) – to taste
Water (पानी) – 3 cups

Next, add the soaked masoor dal and salt, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes. Then, add the soaked basmati rice and gently mix it in. Pour in water until it reaches the level of the rice. Lower the heat, cover the kadhai with a lid, and let it steam for 10 minutes. Your delicious Masoor Dal Pulao is now ready to serve! |
