For Filling
Ghee (घी) – 1 tbsp
Coconut, Desiccated (नारियल) – 1 cup
Jaggery, Grated (गुड़) – ½ cup
Cardamom, Powder (हरी इलायची) – ½ tsp
Cashew, Chopped (काजू) – Handful
Pista, Chopped (पिस्ता)- Handful
Nutmeg, Powder (जायफल) – a pinch
For Dough
Water (पानी) – 1 cup
Rice Flour, Very Fine (चावल का आटा) – 1¼ cup
Salt (नमक) – a pinch
Ghee, Melted (घी) – as required

Glucose Biscuit (बिस्कुट) – 160gms/32 biscuits
Butter (मक्खन) – 40 gm/4 tbsp
Milk (दूध) – 60ml/¼ cup
Fruit Jam (फ्रूट जैम) – 3-4tbsp

For Classic Modak RecipeBegin by making the filling. In a pan, heat the ghee and add in the desiccated coconut. Cook over a flame for a few minutes till it is very aromatic and begins to just develop some colour. |

Now, open the pan and carefully check the temperature. If you can handle it, begin kneading the dough. The dough needs to be kneaded while it’s hot. Mix till it becomes a ball and comes together. Then cover with a damp cloth for another 5 min. |
