Vrat Ki Kheer
Samak Chawal Ki Kheer
(serves 4) (net weight 1kg)
Ingredients
Samak Ke Chawal (Barnyard Millet) (समक के चावल) – ¼ cup/ 2½ tbsp
Milk, full fat (दूध) – 1 lt
Almonds (बादाम) – handful
Cashews (काजू) – handful
Pistachio (पिस्ता) – handful
Gur/Sugar (गुड़) – ½ cup
Water (पानी) – ¼ cup
Cardamom powder (इलाइची पाउडर) – 1 tsp

Meanwhile, in a separate pan, melt jaggery in water and bring it to a single boil and then remove and keep aside. Once the samak chawal is cooked and the milk has thickened like a pudding add the chopped nuts and cardamom powder. Mix them, remove from heat and let it cool down completely. When the kheer reaches room temperature, mix in the jaggery syrup, and your perfect vrat ki kheer is ready. Enjoy!! |
